In the latest episode of the podcast, Steve and Ian talk forecast-beating US tech results and margin growth in UK mid-caps. They also discuss how the UK market increasingly resembles a ‘clearance sale’ after yet another takeover by private equity.
Tech guru Steve explains how results from PC and server maker Dell (NYSE:DELL) and cybersecurity leader Palo Alto Networks (NASDAQ:PANW) beat forecasts. He also looks at the upcoming product release from consumer electronics giant Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) after the handover of power to new CEO John Ternus.
Ian discusses the latest round of earnings upgrades from a range of UK companies, starting with distributor Bunzl (LON:BNZL). As well as raising margin guidance, in a sign of confidence the FTSE 100 firm launched a £500 million share buyback.
Meanwhile, upmarket car dealer Motorpoint (LON:MOTR) raised its guidance thanks to improved sales driven by its AI investment. There are also margin upgrades from specialist component maker TT Electronics (LON:TTG) and industrial LED specialist Dialight (LON:DIA).
Finally, the chaps preview results from chip tech firm Broadcom (NASDAQ:AVGO) and luxury timepiece seller Watches of Switzerland (LON:WOSG).
